5+3 Traffic Generating Tips

By Andrew - Posted on 07 March 2008

Can you imagine the following?
After you set up everything on your blog or website, including interesting content. In your eyes actually killer content, a must read for everyone, something people really, really want. The doors are wide open, you went to google and submit your site, now you waiting for your first visitors. After a few hours or days you got a good amount of visitors and you are happy. After a week or two nothing more is happening, it even looks like it is getting less. Before panic and nail biting night sessions you are in need for a solution....

The chances are you have made this kind of experience when you are not new to all of it. If this is the case I am sure you can add some more tips to our list. Do so in the comment section. If you are new to all the internet stuff, web site, blogging, content creation, niche marketing, we have a small list of tips that can generate traffic for you.

Let us get started.

1. Create value. All the content you create, like blog entries, articles, reviews, video, podcast, on your website must help the reader or point to good resource. This is work. You can do it yourself or ask someone to do it for you (outsourcing). But in return you get long term traffic from visitors and search engines.

2. Make the Search Engine happy. Ask yourself what you can do to make google love you. When google falls in love with your site, you will get lots of traffic in return. Other search engine love is also good, but for a start concentrate on google love.

3. Find forums, groups and other blogs that talk about similar topics than yours. Join them, spend time with them and share what you know.

4. Leave comments that add to the content. Since you read other blog posts, leave a comment about what you read, good or bad, but be fair and try to help so others feel that you contributed to the discussion and topic. In return can leave a link to your site. It takes a few minutes and it can get you long term traffic.

5. Make it easy for others to link your content. Social Networking or Web2.0 is a big thing. Make sure you display some links to sites like digg, StumbleUpon, reddit, Facebook, MySpace, del.icio.us, to name a few, so your visitors can click them with ease.

6. Join Social sites. Join Facebook, MySpace, and others. Spend time there make friends and share. Don't talk about you, you, and you, but rather help, help and help, this way people will like you and talk about you. AND create a profile with a link to your site.

7. Use twitter. One of the greatest and easiest ways to get traffic. Find like minded people on twitter and fill out your profile with a link to your site. update frequently.

8. Add content to your website. After all this social networking and link building, do not forget to add content to your own site frequently, like 3 to 5 times a week would be good for a start. This way you add content people love to read and search engines will come back, in return you get more traffic.

I hope that these tips will get you started. If you found them useful, please use some of the social bookmarks, tell others about this page. For the latest updates visit us frequently or join our list to receive our latest updates and we keep you informed.
