The Power of Digg
In Social bookmarking there is none bigger than Digg. Everyone is talking about the power of Digg at the moment and using it to full advantage will get you good targeted traffic to your site.
My internet marketing friend, Janet Ford, has written a great series of ehow articles on using Digg. Janet Ford is an authority article writer on ehow. She has written over 300 articles on a number of topics. Being an internet marketer herself she realizes the importance of social bookmarking. One of her favorite sites is www.digg.com.
Here is a few helpful ways for you to use the power of Digg.
Make sure you have a Digg account. Sign up here: Digg
Now if you want to use Digg with a click of one button then you are going to need the easy to use Firefox add on tool for Digg. It is a great tool so you can see how many diggs you have on your own website pages or any webpage.
For any Firefox add ons go here and search for the one you want.
Here is the link for the Smart Digg button
Smart Digg button
This allows you to see if a site has been added to Digg before. The button sits on the bottom of your browser page. The smart Digg button will say “7 diggs” and you know that 7 people have dugg that page. You simply click on the button and you can Digg it as well. You just need to be logged into your digg account.
If the button says “Digg this” then no one has submitted it to Digg and you can be the first. Click and it will take you to the Digg submission page.
Janet has written a series of article on how to sign up to Digg and use it to full advantage to drive traffic to your website. You can find her all her articles here.
How to submit your website to Digg
How to use Digg To Your Advantage For Gobs of Traffic
The most important part is to put you website in the right category for people to find: Technology, World & Business, Science, Gaming, Lifestyle, Entertainment, Sports, Offbeat. Each category has sub categories to choose from. For example if you have a web page on a how to, educational topic, then click on Educational under the Lifestyle category. You want targeted traffic to your website so this is very important.
Now think about your headline. The headline, the title of the story, needs to be interesting or no one will click on it and it will never be read. So an attention grabbing headline will get you noticed on Digg.
Once you have added a few website, you can also vote on other popular stories you like. Remember to use Digg ethically. Vote on stories you like for their good content. You can get banned from Digg for adding rubbish so be careful.
Next you need some Digg friends. Here is Janet’s ehow article on how to add friends to your Digg account. Add friends on Digg
Why do you need friends you may ask? Well Janet says, “Submitting your site to Digg and asking people to digg it for you is great but what's even more powerful is in taking part of the community of Digg; namely making friends. Then you can ask them to digg your page for you.” Watch my video and I show you how to add friends too.
If you add someone as a friend you become their “fan”. If someone adds you as a “fan” you will get an email and a notice on your digg page. If you get any fan notices, be sure to add them as your friend. If you add a fan as a mutual friend then you can receive their “shouts” as well as send them. It is like receiving friend requests on Facebook.
Once you have some friends built up then you can start sending some “shouts”.
What are “shouts”? This is how you get others to digg your site. This is called sending “shouts”.
“Shouts” are a way of sending mini-chat messages to your friends on Digg. You can ask for your site to be dugg or send a “shout” about something useful you found on another site. You can send shouts to individual friends or to everyone on your list of friends. Some people elect to turn off their “shouts” so your “shouts” will only be sent to your friends on digg who allow them. I will show you how to send a “shout” in this video.

I hope you find this helpful when using digg to increase the traffic to your site.
